No, really, I AM alive!

I promise, one of these days I'll stop neglecting LJ.

But for a quick little update...Isaac's and my 6 month anniversary was on Sunday. He has 7 days left of tour. And then we can finally be together anytime we want, like a normal couple. Yay! Isaac's sister Katie is coming home from California on Friday for her Christmas break, so I'm very excited to be able to hang out with her & get to know her better. I've only met her a few times, but she is way cool.

Work...eh. I honestly don't want to be there much longer.

I took nearly 300 pictures of my buddy Drew a few weekends ago. I'm really getting into this photography thing! He's an awesome musician and I'm going to be doing his website. The pictures turned out really, really well! I was proud of myself :)

I'll give you guys an actual update on my life one of these days, too (if you're at all interested).

So, Isaac is trying to do the www.freeipods.com thing. A friend of mine told me about another way to receive a free iPod (without having to complete an "offer" like applying for a credit card, joining BMG, etc) - so I figured I'd try it out. I just need 10 friends to sign up, confirm their email address, and take a quiz (the one I took like...showed me what kind of shopping habits I have haha. It was actually sort of fun). Just consider this a birthday present to me or something...and I'll just hope that it actually works! =D

I try to go to as many concerts as I can. I love meeting musicians, and have gotten the awesome opportunity to hang out with many. I am often asked how I've been able to spend time with some of these guys...so the amazing Marianne and I have compiled this list for all girls to use as a reference.



DISCLAIMER: Keep in mind, this will not ensure success. Some people are just not destined to be as cool as we are. But it may help.


SARA'S & MARIANNE'S TOP 25 TIPS FOR NON-GROUPIE STATUS SUCCESS:

01. Stay calm / do not scream.
02. Do not hold your camera right up to his face, thus blinding him with the flash.
03. If you email him/post on his message board/comment on his MySpace...use proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Please.
04. If he offers you alcohol, do not accept it. Instead, wait for him to get drunk so you can take advantage of him (and make sure you have a friend along to videotape it). Also make sure to grab a guitar pick and setlist to sell on ebay.
05. It's okay to be a tease/flirt, as long as you are not a whore. Know when & where to stop.
06. Do not ask stupid questions (ie - Are you related to Paris Hilton? Didn't Coldplay do that song, too? Will you marry me [in a serious tone]? Will you marry me [in a not-so-serious tone]? Your trailer or mine?)
07. Be confident, but not cocky.
08. If you are eating with him, feel free to stuff your face with cheese curds, Sweet Martha's cookies, and ice cream sundaes. No need to change your eating habits...because if you're already fat, he already knows it...and eating healthy foods won't make you appear any smaller.
09. Do not offer to sell merch without the knowledge of basic addition.
10. Merch girl does not equal BFF (except for in the case of Marianne and myself...because we were BFF before we were merch girls).
11. Him remembering you does not equal BFF. Because it is quite possible that he remembers you for a not-so-good reason (ie - you totally creeped him out last time).
12. Do not brag to the world that you "hung out" with him...because getting an autograph and a picture in a meet & greet line does not equal hanging out. And "Hello, what's your name?" is not a conversation.
13. Getting drunk in order to get noticed (so he would "take care of you") really just means that your ass was lying in the driveway, and he moved you so he could leave.
14. Do not sleep with his drunk brother and then expect special treatment the next night because of it. Trust me, he'll find someone much prettier than you.
15. Dark, crowded hallways at SXSW house parties are a good thing. If you are stuck in one with a young Canadian...take advantage of it.
16. Dressing like a whore won't get you anywhere. It'll just get you turned away (or a possible date with the back exit security guard) faster. Most musicians TRY to remain STD-free.
17. Do not, under any circumstance, make him a shirt. Even if he wears it for a picture, it WILL be scrunched into a ball and thrown in the back of his closet (or on the floor of his tourbus only used for two short months and then returned with much left inside).
18. If he says he has never had a certain food, do NOT buy/make him some. Every other girl will bring some, and most likely he will hate it after one bite anyway. Thus, all of the food will go to waste, and there will still be starving kids in Africa.
19. Do not mack on his dad. That's just gross.
20. Do not try to make friends with his mom. Unless you've thrown back a couple of drinks with her, you aren't friends.
21. Screaming "I wanna get in your pants" does not make you sound cool. Seriously.**
22. Do not take advantage of the band just to get to the lead person. Because, chances are, the band is cooler anyway.
23. Buy him alcohol, and he'll buy you ice cream (and ask for your nuts).
24. Avoid all men whose names begin with Michael and end in Tolcher. If you're over 15, he won't care about anything you have to say, anyway.**
25. Kiss-on-the-cheek pictures are so cliche...unless you actually know the person. Only YOU can help prevent the spread of STDs (and forest fires).

I took a bunch of pictures for BensonWells last night, and I decided that I want to get another digital camera. I like my camera...but it's only 3.2 megapixels (it's a Canon PowerShot A75). I'm looking to go up to 7+. And I want to spend $500 or less. I know that a lot of you are awesome photographers...so, yeah, give me some ideas :)

It's official. I give up.

Clearly, I'm way cool & stuff for attempting the trendy (possibly hardcore?) "mirror pictures" again.

Ahhhh my hair is SO SHORT. It's a lot shorter than it looks. However, I now feel like a combination between Mandy Moore (I miss my Manders...sigh) and Anna Nalick (who, by the way, has a song on her album that was written for/inspired by John Mayer...Una Canzone Per Wertza, anybody?!?!) Still, though...my hair...is so short. I MISS MY HAIR!!!!

On a brighter note, I found the perfect shirt, earrings, & necklace (see photos above) to wear with my perfect jeans. I just need a freaking belt. Grr...

I went to the Mall Of America today with Emily. I bought an awesome pair of jeans and some cute shirts.

I brought Emily home, and went straight to Sue's to get my hair done. I parked in front of Glen's house, and walked across the street to Sue's. She finished highlighting my brother's hair, then began mine. After she put the color on, she had to go pick up her daughter from soccer practice or something. So I'm sitting in the basement, watching Law & Order. I hear it begin to rain...I hear some thunder, too. Sue comes home, and I hear "Sara, come up here!" And I was thinking the sky looked really cool or something. So I go upstairs, and Sue is like, "Uhh...Sara...Glen's tree got struck by lightning...and uhhh it's on top of your car."

My hair was still covered in hair dye, and it was raining, so I couldn't go outside. So she had Jesse go outside to check it out. Jesse said it wasn't too bad...it just fell on the hood. I'm like "Okay, just a little dent...no problem." So, Sue is beginning to wash my hair...and then the power goes out. She finishes washing my hair in the dark, but that meant no cut tonight.

So, we go outside...by now a few people have come out, and the cops have been called.





The police officer said people would be out in 45 minutes or so to remove the tree. Yeah...we're too impatient for that. So Glen took out his chainsaw. He cut off the huge branches, and then about 6 guys lifted the tree off my car, and my mom backed it out.



I mean, it's not THAT bad...it DEFINITELY could have been a LOT worse. If the tree would've rotated at all to the left as it fell, causing that top branch to land on the top of my car...yeah. That would NOT have been good. But still, come on. A fucking tree fell on my car.



[edit] The front right side was like that before...haha. That's when the kid hit me in the Blaine parking lot senior year...and instead of paying for it, he switched schools. Smart kid... [/edit]
